When something hurts, feels off, or suddenly stops working the way it used to, our first instinct is usually pretty simple: How do I make this go away?
The headache.
The afternoon crash.
The bloating.
The restless sleep.
The brain fog.
The weird skin flare.
The cycle changes.
The aches that seem to come out of nowhere.
The afternoon crash.
The bloating.
The restless sleep.
The brain fog.
The weird skin flare.
The cycle changes.
The aches that seem to come out of nowhere.
We want relief. Of course we do!
But one of the biggest shifts in my own healing journey—and something I now encourage my clients to consider—is asking a different question:
What if this symptom isn't just something to get rid of? What if it's information?
See, symptoms don't automatically tell us why something is happening. Fatigue doesn't have one cause. Neither do headaches, digestive issues, poor sleep, pain, skin changes, or brain fog.
And that's exactly why I don't love the wellness-world tendency to say:
Tired? Take this.
Bloated? Eliminate that.
Can't sleep? Try this supplement.
Sure, maybe those things help. But we've skipped an important step when we jump to a "quick solution" mindset. We miss discovering WHY your body is struggling in the first place!
A symptom can be a reason to become curious & ask better questions, such as:
What's changed?
When did it start?
What makes it better?
What makes it worse?
What other symptoms appeared around the same time?
What are you already doing that may—or may not—be helping?
What stressors is your body currently navigating?
In other words, instead of immediately trying to silence the signal, we can start listening to it.
Looking at symptoms as information does NOT mean assuming every symptom is harmless or trying to interpret everything yourself. New, severe, persistent, or concerning symptoms deserve appropriate medical evaluation. It also doesn't mean you shouldn't seek symptom relief. Sometimes we absolutely need relief!
The difference is that symptom management and curiosity can coexist.
We can ask: How can I feel better AND learn something from what's happening?
That question opens up a very different (and generally more helpful) approach to wellness.
One of the things I see often is people who are doing an incredible amount for their health. Maybe they have the cabinet full of supplements, they maintain a specific diet, they're on top of podcasts, book, practitioners, testing, etc....annnnd they are typically VERY exhausted.
Not necessarily exhausted because they haven't tried hard enough. Sometimes they're exhausted because they're trying everything without knowing what deserves priority. See, more information isn't always the answer.
Better information can be better!
That's one main reason I use tools like ZYTO bioenergetic scanning in my practice. It isn't a diagnostic tool and doesn't replace medical testing or medical care. I use it as one piece of a much bigger picture—a way to gather additional information that we can discuss alongside symptoms, history, goals, lifestyle, and what someone is already doing. It helps direct the conversation to uncover what you're experiencing, what's changed, what's realistic for your healing right now, and what can be simplified about your approach to healing.
This may be one of the most important things I tell people: Everything cannot be priority #1.
When you're dealing with multiple symptoms or a complicated health history, it can feel like there are 47 things you should be doing. That feeling alone can become overwhelming.
Instead, what if we asked: What deserves my attention right now?
I want you to know that you don't need to understand every signal your body sends. You don't need the perfect protocol. And you certainly don't need to spend your entire life thinking about your health. But you CAN start paying attention.
This week, choose one symptom or health concern you've been frustrated by and get curious about it.
Ask yourself:
When is it better?
When is it worse?
What seems connected to it?
Has it changed over the last three months?
What have I tried?
Do I actually know whether those things helped?
You may not immediately find the answer and that's okay! The goal isn't to become your own detective 24/7. A better goal is to move from frustration and guessing toward observation and clarity (because your body isn't an inconvenience you need to conquer). Your body is communicating with you. So let's start responding by simply listening for now.
If you feel like you've been throwing things at your health without knowing what deserves your attention, a bioenergetic scan can be one tool we use to gather more information and start a more personalized conversation.
My ZYTO appointments include time to talk through your symptoms, goals, scan findings, and realistic next steps—not simply hand you a report and send you home.
